Which jobs do people use Claude for?

Anthropic's Economic Index samples Claude.ai conversations and ties each to an O*NET work task. Summed over each job's tasks, that gives the job's . Here are the jobs with the largest share in May 2026, and the largest moves within one of Anthropic's methods. Beside each is this site's estimate of the share of the job's working time within reach of AI now.

Measured use, from Anthropic's data (CC BY 4.0), Claude.ai only: it says where Claude's use goes, not how much of a job's time it covers, and it is not on the same scale as reach. A task several jobs share is split evenly among them. Anthropic changed its method between releases, so numbers are compared only within one method. The newest file ties a large share of conversations to searching for information, which O*NET lists under document management specialists and librarians, so those two lead this ranking for a reason that has more to do with the classifier than with either job. Every job's line is on its page and in the open data.
