The scan in diligence and the first hundred days

A target's payroll is a list of roles. The scan turns that list into the paid hours and cost of AI now and at the end of each year to 2030, role by role, with the tasks behind the hours. Every figure is an estimate with a stated method and range. Here is what it gives at three points in a deal.

1. Before the data room: a typical company

Pick the target's industry and size and the scan runs a typical company from the staffing BLS counts in that industry. No roster is needed. It is a first read of what the workforce is made of and how much of its paid time is within reach, before anyone has sent a file.

Find the industry (352 sectors, subsectors and groups; each page has a typical company to open in the scan)

Three worked examples

The same Excel workbook and slide deck a full report gives, for three typical companies that do not exist. Each workbook has a Where to start sheet.

2. With the roster: the full report

Paste the titles and headcounts from the data room, with pay if you have it. The matching happens in your browser and the list never leaves it. The preview is free: the totals, the chart and the top three roles. The full report is $249 for one company: every role at every date on every pace, the tasks behind the hours, where to start, the Excel workbook and the slide deck, and 30 days of re-runs as the roster firms up. Pro, at $299 a month or $1,188 a year, covers as many companies as you look at.

3. In the hundred-day plan: where to start

The report's Where to start list is the document work within reach today that needs no license and is not severe if it goes wrong, largest first. It comes from the roles reviewed task by task so far: 167 of 923 occupations, holding 78% of the jobs BLS counts, as of September 30, 2026. That is work an operating team can try with a model in the first weeks without touching the systems of record. The report also splits each role's hours between documents, which can be handed to a model and handed back, and business systems, which would take a connection to the company's own software.

How the review works

What the numbers are, and what they are not

Within reach means a model could finish work of that length at the chosen reliability. It is not a forecast of jobs lost or of savings. The estimates rest on METR's measured task horizons, O*NET's task statements and BLS pay and employment, and the method page gives the sources and the ranges. The scan answers where AI changes the work. What a company does with that is its operators' call.
