Every job is a list of tasks
from the US Department of Labor lists the tasks of 923 occupations, how often each is done and how many workers do it.

Every task has a length
How long a person takes to do it: the , estimated for all 18,838 tasks and checked against work whose real length professionals recorded.

The length models can finish keeps doubling
METR measures the of the best models. It has doubled every four to seven months since 2019. A desk task comes within reach when models can finish tasks that long.
