Every state and metro area
Which jobs people hold in each place comes from BLS; what AI can do in each job comes from its tasks. Put together: the share of each area's paid hours now and by the end of 2028, on the at , with the across paces. Estimates, from data checked September 29, 2026.
Today the states sit close together, 20% to 25% of paid hours within reach, against 24% across the US. The gap opens as longer tasks come within reach: by the end of 2028 they run from 34% to 52%, because places with more long desk work gain the most later.
